Some people want to have a second home at the beach...some in the mountains. I want my second home to be at A Southern Season in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. This is a foodie's nirvana. Filled with the most amazing selection of specialty foods, wines, chocolates, baked goods, coffees, teas, candies, kitchen utensils, dinnerware and prepared food. Weathervane is their attached dining establishment and our choice for lunch. Susan and I both got the potato leek soup and half a fried green tomato BLT. Mmmmm! It was a great way to celebrate our shopping bliss.
Tennis was the event of the afternoon. Ryan was back at work and once again Susan and I got an inside peek at NC State athletics. Unfortunately NC State was not on the winning end of their matches against Georgia Tech, but it was fun nonetheless.
Susan treated us to dinner at The Pit in downtown Raleigh. We gorged ourselves on Carolina style barbecue and sides. Pulled pork for Ryan and Susan. Chopped barbecue turkey for me. Everything was very tasty.
Tonight I baked sub par cookies for Ryan's co-workers and Coach Bible. I can't believe I am saying this, but I actually missed my temperamental oven. And I definitely missed my KitchenAid mixer. The cookies looked like hockey pucks. I just hope they don't taste like pucks...whatever they taste like.
Many hugs,
Kathy
